USCF Release Destinations
Utah State Correctional Facility is a state prison operated by the Utah Department of Corrections. A person with a Wasatch County felony sentence may enter this statewide system even though USCF is in Salt Lake City. Once UDC has legal custody, state records control the release path. The Wasatch County Sheriff cannot confirm a later prison release simply because the criminal case began in Wasatch County.
A USCF release can mean pickup at USCF, release to parole in the community, transport to a community correctional center, or sentence termination. Parole means supervised release from prison under conditions set by the Utah Board of Pardons and Parole. It is not the same as discharge. A community correctional center is also a structured UDC placement. Neither outcome should be labeled as an unconditional end to correctional authority.
UDC’s official Release Day instructions say almost all state releases and paroles are processed at USCF. That includes the normal path for UDC prisoners temporarily housed in county jails. Direct state-prison release from a county jail is described as extremely rare. Family members should confirm the release point before traveling.
USCF Tuesday Release Process
UDC publishes an unusually clear scheduling rule. State releases and paroles are processed every Tuesday at Utah State Correctional Facility. The rule belongs to UDC custody. It does not govern ordinary Wasatch County Jail bond-outs, dismissals, or short county sentences. Applying it to every person who passed through the county jail would mix two separate release systems.
A Board decision may set a future date, but the written decision is only one part of the process. Conditions or contingencies may still need to be met. A rescission can withdraw an earlier action. UDC operations, holds, a new sentence, or another legal change may affect the actual movement. On release day, compare the Board decision with UDC’s current location and Release Date/Type field and with the event reported through VINE.

Confirm a USCF Release
The UDC Offender Search is the first public route for a person still under UDC authority. Search by offender number when possible. A name search needs at least one letter in both the first and last names, with the middle name optional. Match the date of birth and UDC number before opening More Information.

A community location and case manager can show that the person left prison but remains under Adult Probation and Parole supervision. A prison housing facility indicates physical confinement. No result has a narrow meaning because the UDC tool covers only people currently incarcerated by or on probation or parole with the agency. It is not a permanent archive for people whose sentences and supervision have ended. Important: A future Release Date/Type entry or Board grant does not prove that a USCF release has occurred.
USCF Release Search Fields
UDC’s public detail view uses exact labels that matter. It shows Offender #, Name, Location, Housing Facility, Release Date/Type, Case Manager, and Case Manager Email. The combined Release Date/Type label should not be renamed “projected release date.” A blank field should not be filled with an estimate. The interface also does not promise a full movement history or a booking photograph.

No exact facility telephone was supplied in the research, so use UDC’s official linked agency route or its documented main line rather than a number from a directory. The Draper address for UDC administration is not the USCF release gate.

Questions about parole authority belong with the Utah Board of Pardons and Parole. Its search should be checked before calling, and the documented records or status assistance number is 801-261-6464. Questions about current prison housing, individual release logistics, or state records belong with UDC. Utah VINE at 1-877-884-8463 adds event notification but does not replace either agency.

Transportation After a USCF Release
UDC says a person without a ride may be taken by a release-team member or volunteer to a nearby Utah Transit Authority TRAX station. People without arranged rides are released last, and details are case-specific. This is not a promise of transportation to Wasatch County. It also should not be generalized to the Wasatch County Jail, whose public FAQ does not give a comparable post-release transportation policy.
Families can use the UTA trip planner after UDC confirms the time and actual release point. Transit schedules can change. Waiting at CUCF or the Wasatch jail based only on the person’s former housing site can cause a missed pickup, since most UDC processing occurs at USCF. A case manager or release team is the best source for person-specific directions.
Property is another separate issue. The UDC Property Pickup channel controls state-prison property questions.
The state instructions should be used for USCF property. County-jail property questions must instead go to the Wasatch County Jail.
Request USCF Release Records
If the public tools do not resolve the history, request UDC records through the official public-records channel. Include the UDC number, full name, date range, known housing facility, and the specific records needed. Useful items include an institutional movement entry, release record, discharge or termination record, and any public correctional identification image. Ask the records officer to provide segregable public portions when part of a file is restricted.
The Board decision should usually be sought through its public person search first. A decision can explain a grant, denial, rehearing, rescission, parole violation action, or termination. A grant with a date is prospective until operations confirm the move. A termination record has a different effect from parole, because parole preserves supervision while termination ends the sentence under the Board’s authority.
Utah’s earned-time rule also belongs in the state record. Under Utah Code §77-27-5.4, effective July 1, 2026, the UDC and Board program provides at least four months for each of up to two successfully completed approved or recommended programs, subject to the statute’s exclusions and possible forfeiture. It is not a daily county-jail credit and it does not create a universal percentage formula. A person with no current release date, an unmet contingency, or another listed exclusion may not receive the expected change. The written Board action and UDC record control over a private estimate.
Utah VINE adds a time-sensitive check. Its documented events include release, transfer, moves between the Salt Lake City and Gunnison prison sites, and placement in a community correctional center. Registration can provide telephone or email notice. Because each event has a different custody meaning, save the event wording and reporting agency, then confirm it with UDC before describing a final discharge.
